Pampilar
With business experience dating back to 1986, whilst I was still a student, I founded Pampilar in 1992. Pampilar is a company wholly owned by Portuguese capital, and specialises in the production of single-use paper products, such as napkins, tissues, kitchen rolls and toilet paper, for domestic use. In addition to the Pampilar brand, the company manufactures private-label products for major retailers such as Continente, Lidl, Intermarché and Auchan.

Thanks to its ongoing development and innovation, Pampilar has enjoyed steady growth, underpinned by state-of-the-art technology, enabling it to serve the large-scale retail sector with excellence through modern and innovative products, thereby reinforcing its reputation as an innovator and provider of excellent service. Excellence is our goal and, to that end, we aim to remain at the forefront, utilising production systems and machinery to manufacture products of the highest quality. We have therefore planned a new industrial development project, taking into account industrial, logistical and energy efficiencies, which will be carried out in a facility that will allow us to centralise our various processing units in Serzedo and boost growth in that very area. The attention we pay to the domestic market is of the utmost importance, although we have had positive experiences in the export market with innovative products such as coloured toilet roll and kitchen roll (Flashy), having been the second company to introduce this innovative concept. The municipality of Gaia has been the birthplace of major brands and companies across various sectors, having built up a significant body of industrial knowledge and experience in the automotive, ceramics and components sectors, amongst others; Pampilar also aims to make its mark here in the paper industry. This new investment cycle will be carried out in phases, but will be based in a defined geographical area. However, Vila Nova de Gaia has the infrastructure for this development, which we welcome given the existing historical connection. Having recorded a turnover of €10 million in 2012 and €19.5 million in 2013, the expansion of technologically advanced production capacities and logistics-production synergies are essential for continued growth and to support the development of large-scale distribution, whilst acting as national and independent suppliers.
