Fernando Barbosa takes over as president of INOVAGAIA

INOVAGAIA has a new leader. Fernando Barbosa will take over as president of the organisation at the end of May, succeeding his predecessor and ushering in a new era for the municipality’s business and innovation support ecosystem. A graduate in International Relations from the Lusíada University of Porto, Fernando Barbosa has a varied career background in both the private sector and public administration. Currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Águas de Gaia, he is already thoroughly familiar with INOVAGAIA’s structure, having served as an Executive Director there between 2012 and 2013. Throughout his career, he has also gained significant experience in managing companies in the insurance and industrial sectors, as well as in the public sector, notably as a Member of the Portuguese Parliament (9th and 12th Legislatures), Chair of the Olival Parish Council and a director of various organisations in the local business sector, such as Amigaia and Gaia Social. With this return, the new chairman brings a wealth of experience to continue and strengthen INOVAGAIA’s mission in incubating technology-based projects, providing business consultancy and supporting the municipality’s business community.
